Folk Art, 2nd Grade
These beautiful paintings were inspired after the artist, Karla Gerard. Students painted their drawings with tempera paint and then added details with oil pastels.
I usually have students draw the hills first. Then we add the designs, houses, and other details. When painting, have students paint the large areas first. The small details can be added on top after the paint is dry. A lot of the small details were done with oil pastels after the paint was dry.
BEAUTIFUL!
