yeah, I have been hot gluing stuff to the wall for years. I use it to hang ordinary things like posters as well. Tape just never sticks to the bumpy stone walls in the school. The hot glue will come right off with a scraper, and most of the time won't even peal the paint. Hopefully it is strong enough to keep this up though. I'll have to wait and see.
While I officially collected bottlecaps for almost three semesters, most of the student body's efforts were concentrated in two collection drives that were only two weeks each. I created contests among homerooms to see who could bring in the most caps per student, and even assigned point values to colors that I really needed to be able to do the mural!
We at Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown, NY are in the process of creating a bottle cap mural featuring an underwater motif. I sent out an all-agency email asking other dayhab sites as well as the residences to save caps! We are halfway there-we need approximately 10,000 caps!!! Will send a pic when we're done! Hilary, DDI Rec. Dept. (we screwed them into the wall)
I am starting a bottle cap mural and decided to do a still life as well. I love the idea of the foam board and hot glue. What do u think about attaching caps to board with tacky craft glue. I just can't let the students use hot glue.
Hi Folks! Ohhhh I just love recycling. Fantastic artwork YAY for ya'll. I'm assuming these are all plastic bottle caps, right? One of my daughters use metal bottle caps on her wood robots with her young students and they're so cool. I think plastic caps are more plentiful for MY students to make a fun picture. Am I dreaming a good dream :) Hope to hear a "confirm for plastic." Blessings and Smiles, Liz
Looks GREAT! How did you decide to hang it??
ReplyDeleteI decided to hot glue it to the wall. Hopefully it will stay.
ReplyDeleteLOL was your school okay with the "hot glue" to the wall method? LOL
